Nazionale di Certificazione della sostenibilità dei biocarburanti e dei bioliquidi”)

towards a greener economy.
RBS S.R.L.’s main area of expertise is within biodiesel and its waste-based feedstocks. Biodiesel is a liquid fuel produced from renewable sources, such as used vegetable oils and animal fats and is a cleaner-burning replacement for petroleum-based diesel fuel. Biodiesel is non-toxic and biodegradable. Like petroleum-derived diesel, biodiesel is used to fuel compression-ignition (diesel) engines. Biodiesel can be blended with petroleum diesel in any percentage, including B100 (pure biodiesel) and the most common blend, B7 (a blend containing 7% biodiesel and 93% petroleum diesel).
Biofuels
Biofuels
Waste-based biofuels are playing a key role in energy transition, transforming today’s limited supply of low carbon transportation fuels and creating a circular economy.
Currently, biofuels only account for 3% of today’s 100 million barrels per day of liquid fuel demand. However, existing and developing new technologies are driving biofuel production from municipal waste, agricultural residue, and recycling plastic waste.
These are fast becoming game changers for energy transition, and it is estimated that the sector could supply an additional 20 million barrels per day of liquid biofuel by 2050, thereby satisfying a quarter of all future liquid fuel demand whilst reducing waste generation. As governments have understandably pulled away from using food-based biofuels, the waste-based alternative is undergoing rapid growth to compensate for the shortfall.
There is still plenty of opportunity for growth and for some areas of the transport sector, such as air and sea travel, there is little alternative to liquid fuel, making decarbonizing difficult. This source of biofuel is proven to be greatly beneficial, providing a cleaner fuel alternative that addresses both future power and environmental needs.
